About

Steven Shaw is known for his roles as a stunt double for Burt Reynolds, First Assistant Cinematographer for E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Pandora's Clock, and more.

Before Steve would begin college, he attended Isaac Litton High School, where he was awarded a football scholarship to Vanderbilt University. At Vanderbilt, Steve initially studied engineering. During his studies, his passion for liberal arts awoke. Following his education at Vanderbilt, he was drafted by the Cleveland Browns. While this seems like an obvious choice to most, Steve's knees were injured at the time, making the chances of him being selected as a part of the team considerably lower. Since at the time, Vietnam was a hot-spot for the military, Steve also considered this as an option. He opted to serve in the military instead, and was given the opportunity to continue to play football at his post in Fort Sill, Oklahoma.

Following his experience in the military, Steve got started in the restaurant business with the help of a few of his acquantances. After this foray didn't quite pan out, he decided he'd try to be a ski instructor at Mammoth Mountain (in California). The only problem with this plan was that Steve didn't know how to ski, but he pursued regardless. In his pursuit, he happened to meet cinematographer John Stephens, who was popular for filming many sport car commercials. John Stephens convinced Steve to come to Germany with him, where Steve would help develop an on-vehicle camera mount for cars racing on the Nürburgring.

Upon returning to the states, he started in the film industry as an actor, playing as Burt Reynold's double in several films as well as a short role alongside Liza Minnelli in Lucky Lady. But his role as an actor would all change..
